Introduction
Sometimes the prop you want simply doesn't exist — yet. Whether it's a weapon from a niche game, a character-specific accessory, or an entirely original design, a custom prop design and print service turns your vision into a physical object you can hold.
At 3DCre8Design, we offer bespoke prop design and printing alongside our standard kit range — including printing from your own STL or 3MF files, and designing from scratch using Fusion 360. This guide explains how the process works and what to expect.
When Do You Need a Custom Prop?
- Your favourite character's prop isn't available in our standard range — yet.
- You need a specific scale or size that differs from off-the-shelf options.
- You're creating an original costume or character design.
- You want a personalised prop — with your name, a custom insignia, or unique modifications.
- You need multiple identical props for a group cosplay or event.
- You have your own STL or 3MF file and need it printed and finished professionally.
Our Custom Design Process
Step 1: Brief — You share your reference images, dimensions, and design requirements via our Print & Quote Request form. The more detail you can provide, the better.
Step 2: CAD modelling — Our team builds the design in Fusion 360, working from your reference and our technical knowledge of what prints well. If you're supplying your own file, we'll review it for printability and advise on any adjustments.
Step 3: Review — We share renders of the design for your approval before printing begins. Revisions are part of the process.
Step 4: Print and dispatch — Once approved, your prop is printed to order in quality PLA+ and dispatched from our UK workshop.
What We Can Design and Print
We specialise in hard-surface props: weapons, armour pieces, helmets, accessories, replacement parts, and decorative items. Our sweet spot is anything with clean geometry and strong silhouette — the kind of design that translates beautifully to 3D printing.
We've also designed and printed functional replacement parts — from vehicle accessories to custom components — so if your project falls outside the prop world, get in touch and we'll advise.
Organic shapes and highly detailed character busts are possible but require more design time and may be quoted accordingly.
Turnaround and Pricing
Custom work is priced based on complexity, print time, and design hours. Simple modifications to existing designs are at the lower end; fully original complex props take more time and are priced accordingly. Print-from-file jobs (where you supply the STL/3MF) are typically faster and more affordable.
Submit your request via our Print & Quote Request form and we'll get back to you within 48 hours.
Final Thoughts
A custom prop design and print service is the ultimate way to own exactly the prop you want. Whether you have a detailed brief, a rough idea, or your own file ready to print — the 3DCre8Design team can help bring it to life.
